What to do now

Stay safe around sewage, cut water use, note what you see, then request a visit.

  1. Cut water use: hold off on laundry, baths and the dishwasher.
  2. Keep people, pets and vehicles away from wet ground or any sewage on the surface.
  3. Never open a tank to look inside or climb into one: the gases can be deadly.
  4. If a pump or aerobic unit alarm is sounding, check the breaker only if it is safe, then leave the unit alone.
  5. Photograph any backup or wet ground and note when it started.
  6. Send the request form.
  7. Contact your insurer or landlord if sewage has entered the home.
